Future Shot
Coinbase activated at VALORANT Champions in Paris in October 2025. The brief was an audiovisual environment for the activation that reacted to crowd state and match telemetry — AI as engine, not subject.
The brief
Esports activations are typically built around rendered video loops: spectacular, expensive, and unresponsive. Coinbase wanted the activation to react to the room — the crowd, the match, the time of night — without devolving into a tech demo. The brand line had to land first; the system had to read as a considered audiovisual design, not as machine learning on display.
The approach
Glover Hinton partnered with Mayda — a platform for generative audio and responsive lighting — to score the run-of-show live. The composition responded to ambient sound, match telemetry, and crowd density across the activation footprint. Audio shaped the lighting; lighting shaped the room. Neither read as a feature on its own.
The outcome
A single integrated audiovisual environment that ran for the full activation window. The system never repeated itself, never demanded attention, and never reverted to a static loop when telemetry dropped. The most successful outcome: attendees described it as the atmosphere of the room, not the technology in the room.
